Prior to and during the delivery of all projects undertaken by DECC, consideration must be given to the environment and the effect DECC activities will have on it. Measures taken by DECC to reduce the impact on the environment include:

• Noise and vibration abatement;
• Dust mitigation;
• Sediment and erosion controls;
• Waste minimisation and recycling;
• Stabilisation works; and
• Flora and fauna protection.

Whilst environmental protection is an important and mandatory part of DECCs daily activities, project and site specific approval requirements may include the salvage and/or protection of heritage items of community and cultural significance.
