The Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan was announced by the Australian Government to support the proposed Western Sydney Airport and Badgerys Creek, The Western Sydney Priority Growth Area and the South Western Priority Land Release Area.

The Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan includes The Northern Road Upgrade – Stage 3 North Project, in particular, the demolition of the existing Northern Road (TNR3N) Bridge over M4 Motorway on MR154 Interchange, Glenmore Park (Penrith City LGA).

The demolition of the existing Northern Road (TNR3N) Bridge Over M4 Motorway on MR154 Interchange was undertaken in a designated shutdown window for a duration of 72 hours during the June 2019 long weekend.

This scope included all structural and non-structural concrete elements of each bridge span, deck slabs, parapets, beams, post/pre-tensioning systems, abutments, footings, precast panels, screen, guard rails, footpaths, redundant services, piling, columns, approach slabs, asphalt/sealing and pavements.

Over the shutdown period dedicated to demolition (48 hour period) over 11,000 tonne of material was shifted using the following resources:

52 No. inducted site staff (PM’s, Supervisors, operators and labourers)

70T Excavator with Hydraulic Hammer/ Rock Breaker + rotating cutter/pulveriser attachment (2 no.);

48T Excavator with Hydraulic Hammer/Rock Breaker Attachment (4 no);

48T Excavator with static pulveriser attachment (2 no);

43T Excavator processing demolition materials (2 no);

Front End Loader (2 no);

30T Articulated Dump truck (2 no);

Stand-By 38T-47T Excavator (2 no);

2 x Water Trucks; and

2 x Water de-misters
